Explorers Ready for Final Two Games

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle women's water polo team will travel to Villanova to take on the Wildcats before returning home to Kirk Pool to face VMI in the team's final two games of the regular season.
 
The contest against Villanova is set for Friday, Apr. 15 at 5 p.m. and VMI is slated for Saturday, Apr. 16 at 10 a.m. Saturday's home match will be streamed on YouTube Live. 
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle enters the contest against Villanova following a 2-1 weekend in its home pool recording victories against Iona and the Wildcats after falling to Wagner.
  • Kalista Hyham leads the Explorers on offense with 127 points from 99 goals and 28 assists. She has rattled off an impressive 167 shots on the net in 33 games this season. The graduate student is shooting 59.3% and has also drawn a team-high 85 exclusions.
  • Francesca Co' enters the weekend following her second-straight MAAC Rookie of the Week nod. Co' has recorded 80 points this season on 43 goals and 37 assists. She has made quite the defensive effort in the field with 26 steals.
  • Karle Linden is a key defender for the Explorers with 50 steals and a team-high 18 field blocks this season.
  • Goalie Emma Gurasich has recorded 882 minutes in the net this season making 247 saves for a 45.8 save percentage. She has also added 38 assists and 63 steals.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
  • The Wildcats enter the contest with La Salle at 18-15 overall and 7-7 in the MAAC. Villanova has not played since losing to the Explorers at Kirk Pool 12-9 on Sunday.
  • Kaysie Stuba leads the offensive effort for the Wildcats with 141 points on 93 goals and 48 assists. She has fired off 202 shots at the net in 33 games and drawn a team-high 62 exclusions.
  • Stella Byles and Amanda Rice lead the defensive effort from the field for Villanova. Byles has totaled a team-high 42 steals in 33 games while Rice leads the charge in field blocks with 28.
  • Abigail Shelby has recorded 736 minutes in 29 games for the Wildcats. She has made 175 saves while adding seven assists and 23 steals.
SCOUTING THE KEYDETS:
  • The Keydets enter the contest at 4-24 overall and 1-13 in conference play this season. Currently, VMI is on a two-game skid recording its last victory at home against Siena on Apr. 9.
  • VMI and La Salle last met in Lexington on Mar. 19 where the Explorers defeated the Keydets by a margin of 11, 17-6.
  • Sydney Shettleroe leads the offensive effort for the Keydets with 58 points on 47 goals and 11 assists. She has rattled off 97 shots on the net this season and has drawn the most exclusions on the team with 25.
  • Genevieve Petrassi and McKenna Moore lead the defensive effort from the field for VMI. Petrassi has recorded a team-high 37 steals while Moore has totaled a team-high 12 field blocks.
  • Petrassi serves as another key offensive contributor with36 goals, 19 assists and 76 shots this season.
  • Katie Llyod has served as VMI's only goalie this season. She has made 108 saves and has added six steals.
