Box Score VILLANOVA, Pa. – The La Salle women's water polo team remained knotted with the Villanova Wildcats through the first half, but a strong effort from Villanova in the second half was too much for the Explorers to overcome. La Salle dropped the contest 9-6 Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first period was a low-scoring effort from both teams with each squad only tallying a single goal apiece.
- The second frame was another equal effort for both the Explorers and Wildcats. Each team put up two goals in the eight minutes to head into the second half of play tied at 3-3.
- The third quarter was the difference-maker as Villanova found its grove putting up four goals while holding La Salle to just one to take a 7-4 lead into the final stanza.
- The teams each put up another two goals in the last period with Villanova keeping its three-point advantage to win 9-6.
