POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The No. 4 seeded La Salle women's water polo team is set to take on No. 1 seeded Wagner in the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Water Polo Championships on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 12 p.m.
The tournament is hosted by Marist and will take place at McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie, New York. All contests will be available to stream on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters the contest following the first season in program history the team has recorded at least 20 wins in the regular season. The Explorers are 22-13 overall and 9-7 in the MAAC.
- Kalista Hyham earned Co-Player of the Year for La Salle following an impressive 104-goal performance in the regular season. She became the first Explorer in program history to hit the 100-goal mark in a single season.
- Goalie Emma Gurasich earned All-MAAC First Team honors. She helped to lead La Salle to a 12-game win streak during the season highlighted by the team's first California tournament sweep. The junior has made 255 saves in 35 games.
- Shanna Zuanich is the third-leading scorer and second on the team in points for the Explorers. The All-MAAC Second Team honoree set two single-game program records this season for single-game assists (9) and points (12).
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS:
- Wagner enters the contest at 32-3 overall this season. The Seahawks are 16-3 when playing at a neutral location.
- Andrea Arias leads the team in goals with 98 on the season. She has drawn the second-most exclusions on the team with 47.
- Malia Josephson leads the teams in assists with 82 and points with 158.
- Skye Nankervis leads the defensive effort from the field 63 steals in 35 games.
- Kristina Bell has played 32 games in the net for the Seahawks. She has recorded over 931 minutes in goal and has made 231 saves while adding one assist and 16 steals.
