Women's Water Polo | May 3, 2022
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Tom Hyham, the La Salle women's water polo program's head coach, has announced his retirement following four years with the program, Vice President for Athletics and Recreation
Brian Baptiste announced today.
"We would like to thank Tom for the contributions he has made to La Salle University and the water polo program over the last four seasons, and we hope that he has a fantastic retirement from coaching," Vice President for Athletics & Recreation
Brian Baptiste said. "The team made great strides the last four seasons, including the first two MAAC Tournament appearances in program history. We are excited about the strong upward trajectory of the program with our current team and what the future holds for La Salle women's water polo."
Hyham is just the second head coach of the program and recently completed his fourth season at the helm. He won 51 games as the Explorers' head coach and led his team to two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Water Polo Championship appearances. The 2019 MAAC Coach of the Year led the Explorers to their first Division I win, first conference victory and first triumph at Kirk Pool. This past season also marked the first-ever 20-win season in the history of the program.
"I am very happy with the opportunity everyone at La Salle has given me over the past four years," said Hyham. "The success this program has achieved is a testament to the hard work of the student-athletes and the work the entire department has done behind the scenes. I will be forever grateful for my time at La Salle."
A national search for new head women's water polo coach will begin immediately.
