PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's basketball team and new head coach Fran Dunphy open the 2022-23 season with a marquee matchup at Big 5 foe Villanova on Nov. 7, as part of a 13-game non-conference schedule that was announced on Wednesday.

The Explorers will head to Finneran Pavilion to square off against the reigning Big 5 champion Wildcats, who are coming off a 30-8 campaign and a trip to the Final Four. 'Nova will also have a new face on the sidelines as Kyle Neptune takes over for Hall of Famer Jay Wright as head coach, after serving one season at the helm of Atlantic 10 member Fordham.

La Salle opens its home schedule on Saturday, Nov. 12 against Wagner on Homecoming Weekend. The Seahawks won 21 games last year before falling in the Northeast Conference title game to Bryant. Three days later, the Explorers host Queens University of Charlotte on Tuesday, Nov. 15. In their first season as a Division I program in 2022-23, the Royals are coming off an impressive 30-4 season at the Division II level and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament Sweet 16 three times in the last five seasons.

A trip to the Caribbean for the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic is scheduled for Nov. 18-20. La Salle and Wake Forest will square off on the first day of the event, with the winner of that game facing the winner of Georgetown-Loyola Marymount for the title. The trip marks the first time La Salle men's basketball has played in Jamaica, and is the seventh trip to the Caribbean for the Explorers, who last trekked to the tropical region in 2013-14 (U.S. Virgin Islands).

Upon return to the United States, the Explorers will have five straight games in the city of Philadelphia, four of which are home contests -- Nov. 26 vs. Binghamton, Nov. 30 vs. Temple, Dec. 6 vs. Bucknell, and Dec. 10 vs. Drexel. La Salle tangles with Penn at the Palestra on Dec. 3.

La Salle finishes up its non-conference slate with two of the final three games on the road. Away trips to Cincinnati (Dec. 17) and Howard (Dec. 29) sandwich a home contest against Lafayette on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
