PHILADELPHIA, P.a. – The Explorers men's soccer team fell to the NJIT Highlanders 1-0 in a low-scoring contest Saturday night.
 
La Salle Falls to 1-2-2 on the year, and NJIT is now 2-2-1 in 2022.
 
How it Happened –

• The game was a tale of two halves, and the scoring was at a minimum for both sides in the first half of the match.
• NJIT out-shot the Explorers in the first half 8-1, and the first shot of the game did not come until the 15^th minute for the Highlanders.
• The first and only goal of the game came in the 42^nd minute, off a free kick. The kick deflected off a few Explorers and found its way to the net to give NJIT a 1-0 lead.
• The second half began with a handful of yellow cards against the Highlanders, and this is a trend that would continue for both teams throughout the remainder of the game.
• La Salle had nine shots in the second half putting constant pressure on NJIT, but there would be no goals to show for the effort.

 
Inside the Numbers –

• NJIT out-shot La Salle 8-1 in the first half, and La Salle out-shot NJIT 9-2 in the second half.
• There were seven total yellow cards handed out, five for NJIT and two for La Salle.
• The Explorers led in corner kicks 4-3.
