NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle women's basketball freshman forward Mia Jacobs had a week of firsts highlighted by earning the title of Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Jacobs composed a double-double effort of 14 points and 10 rebounds in a tight loss to Saint Joseph's in the team's league-opener on Saturday. Not only was it the first career double-double for the Australian native, but also her first career start in the Blue & Gold.
 
The freshman is just the second Explorer to reach double-digit rebounding this season and the first to do it twice. She also is the first player to record a double-double in 2022-23. Jacobs is currently averaging 7.9 points per game and has hit four games in double-figures this season.
 
La Salle returns to action this afternoon against Hartford at 2 p.m. in Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center before hitting the road this week to take on Davidson on Jan. 5 followed by Rhode Island on Jan. 8.
