Wasyliw Scores Three Goals as the Explorers Dominate in a 7-0 Win Over Queens University

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – La Salle dominated on both sides of the field scoring seven goals, and only allowing one shot as they leave North Carolina with one of their best wins of the season.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first frame of play was mainly controlled by the La Salle offense. The Explorers got off three shots and had three corner attempts but was not able to convert.
  • The second quarter proved to be a much different one than the first with the La Salle offense getting three goals before the half.
  • The opening goal came from Sophia Wasyliw after she weaved through two defenders in front of the cage and put it past the goalie.
  • Cat McFadden was able to get the deflecting shot that put the Explorers up 2-0. She found the back of the cage off a corner attempt by La Salle.
  • The third goal for La Salle was all Clara Larripa. The team's leading scorer was able to drive down the center of the field, past three defenders, and put the ball behind the goalie for the third goal of the quarter for La Salle.
  • The third quarter was similar to the first, controlled by La Salle's offense but no one was able to get home.
  • Wasyliw picked up where she left off in the second with a quick goal to start the final frame putting La Salle up 4-0.
  • The fifth goal scored for La Salle was by Paige Doyle. Doyle scored her second goal of the weekend after having one against Davidson on Friday.
  • Quinn Medico scored her first goal of the season against the Royals to get thee score to 6-0.
  • Wasyliw finished off her day scoring her third goal in the closing minutes of the contest. This marks her first career hat-trick and her most goals scored in one game.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • La Salle scored seven goals today which is tied for the most goals scored in a game since a 7-0 victory over Saint Louis in 2013.
  • Larripa sits atop the leader board for the Explorers having scored seven goals this season.
  • Five different Explorers scored in today's contest.
  • La Salle out shot Queens 21-1, not allowing Queens to get one shot off on goal.
  • The Blue & Gold were able to attempt 12 corner shots, only allowing one by Queens.
 
UP NEXT:
  • La Salle will return home next weekend for one game at The Proving Grounds and one at the University of Pennsylvania as the home team. Friday, they will host A-10 foe Richmond and Sunday, they will host Dartmouth.
