Men’s Soccer to Face Loyola Chicago in Afternoon A-10 Affair

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team jumps back into action Wednesday afternoon with another Atlantic 10 Conference matchup against Loyola Chicago at McCarthy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
  • The Explorers are 1-0-2 in A-10 play after coming off a 2-1 victory over George Mason last Saturday night. For the first time since 2010, the Explorers are unbeaten in A-10 matches through Oct. 1.
  • Sean Yurgel scored both of La Salle's goals in the victory over the Patriots.
  • Drew Blackwell recorded two assists off corner kicks. With five assists, Blackwell now ranks second in the A-10 this season.
  • Americo Pereira leads the Explorers in points with seven on three goals and one assist.
  • Pereira and Yuval Nimrodi pace the team in goals with three apiece. Nimrodi leads La Salle in shots with 12.
  • La Salle is looking to win its first match against Loyola Chicago in three tries. The Ramblers won both contests in the series so far (4-2 in 2022 and 3-1 in 2017), but it will be the first time these teams meet at McCarthy Stadium.
  • The Explorers have a 3-1-1 record at home this season.
  • La Salle is led by head coach Taylor Thames, who is in his third season at the helm. 
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS
  • Loyola Chicago (5-2-2, 1-1-1 A-10) faced VCU in its last contest, dropping a 2-1 match to the Rams.
  • Oscar Dueso scored the lone goal for the Ramblers on a penalty kick.
  • Loyola Chicago outshot VCU 25-9, but VCU had more shots on goal, 5-3.
  • Oscar Dueso leads the Ramblers in points with 12. John Gates leads the team in assists with five.
  • Loyola Chicago boasts an impressive 3-0-1 record in away games thus far.
  • Leading the Ramblers is Steve Bode, who is in his second season as head coach for Loyola Chicago. In his first season, he led the team to an impressive 9-2-7 record without losing a home game.
