Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Explorers End the Weekend 2-0, Top Dartmouth 3-1

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle field hockey finished their weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Dartmouth Big Green. This win puts them at 2-0 for the weekend and a 9-4 overall record.

The Explorers will return to action when they travel to Saint Louis next Friday for A-10 conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Two minutes into the contest the Big Green took control of the match. Lucia Campano deflected a pass from Ella Bowman to put Dartmouth on top early.
  • The equalizer from La Salle came from Tatum Johnson in the final minute of the contest. Hovering in front of the cage, Johnson was able to put it past the goalie and earn her fourth goal this year.
  • The Explorer's leading goal-scorer continued to do just that in today's match. Clara Larripa put the ball past the goalie halfway through the second quarter for her ninth goal.
  • A majority of the third quarter remained scoreless, however with just over a minute remaining in the frame Johnson snagged her second goal. A quick pass from Dunja Hartsch found Johnson's stick and popped into the goal to make it 3-1 La Salle.
  • The final frame of play was highlighted by a late push by Dartmouth to close the scoring gap. The Big Green had an empty net for the final five minutes of the game but had no goals to show for it.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Today was Johnson's first multi-goal game of the season, totaling four points.
  • Larripa led the team in shots taken with five, three of which on goal.
  • As a team the Explorers were able to contain the Dartmouth offensive only allowing them to get off ten shots, only four on goal.
  • The teams were even in the corner attempts at six each.
