PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's basketball team continued its winning ways, taking down Northeastern, 79-74, on Saturday in front of raucous crowd on Homecoming at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center.
With the win, the Explorers moved to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2017-18.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rokas Jocius set the tone early, scoring six of La Salle's first eight points to start the game.
- Jhamir Brickus knocked down some massive shots down the stretch, including a clutch three-pointer to give the Explorers a 77-74 lead with 27 seconds to go. He finished with a game-high 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting and 4-of-8 from three.
- Anwar Gill had another strong showing, doing just about everything you could ask him to do on the defensive end. He would go on to finish with a well-rounded 15 points, a game-high seven assists and a team-high five rebounds.
- Khalil Brantley finished with 14 points while going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
GAME NOTES
- Brickus and Brantley were the only Explorers to attempt free throws all game, leading to a perfect 12-for-12 from the line. The duo both went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
- The Explorers committed four turnovers the entire game, and did not commit a turnover in the second half.
- Add that to 18 assists and the Explorers finished the game with an 18:4 assists to turnover ratio.

- La Salle faces off against Bucknell on Tuesday night in the opening game of the Blue Devil Challenege, which includes Southern Indiana and Duke. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
