PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University head men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy earned the 600th win of his illustrious career as the Explorers defeated Coppin State, 81-62, inside Tom Gola Arena on Sunday afternoon. The victory makes Dunphy just the 43rd NCAA DIvision I head coach to win 600 games in a career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Explorers started out slowly but were buoyed by a fantastic first half from Anwar Gill.
  • Gill scored 13 of the team's first 17 points, before the rest of his teammates started to get untracked towards the end of the first stanza.
  • La Salle went on a 15-4 run to close the half, including a highlight-reel dunk from Daeshon Shepherd that closed the scoring.
  • The Explorers continued to hold at least an eight-point cushion for the remainder of the game.
  • A three-pointer by Andres Marrero extended the margin to 54-37 with 11:51 left in the second half, and the lead stayed in double figures throughout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Explorers connected on seven three-pointers in the second half, and totaled 11 for the game.
  • La Salle also had a decided edge on the glass, outrebounding Coppin State, 41-18.
