PHILADELPHIA – La Salle women's basketball will take on the Maine Black Bears for the first home game of the 2023-24 season tomorrow. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. and the contest will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- The Explorers is coming off their first win of the season in a 73-68 win over Coppin State on Monday. New members to 20th & Olney led the way throughout the contest.
- Freshman Aryss Macktoon returned to her home state of Maryland and put on a show against the Eagles. She led La Salle with 17 points scored and had six rebounds.
- Nicole Melious made her mark in New York City as a high schooler as she holds the title for most points scored in a season (1,137). Monday night Melious showed her scoring ability. She tallied 16 points throughout and went 3-6 from beyond the arch, leading the team in three-pointers made.
- Jolene Armendariz is new to La Salle, but not to high level college basketball. The San Francisco State transfer shined in her Explorer debut. She had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, which led the team. Her physical game prevailed on the defensive side of the floor as she took in seven defensive rebounds.
- The reigning assist/turnover ratio leader continued to distribute the ball to her teammates at a high level. Molly Masciantonio assisted on four plays against the Eagles.
- Emilee Tahata comes off a 2022-23 season with limited action, but right from the jump was able to score for La Salle on Monday. She scored a career high eight points against Coppin State and had three rebounds and one block.
- Saint Anslem transfer Gabby Turco contributed to the La Salle win, as well. The junior scored eight points and pulled in six rebounds in her Blue & Gold debut.
- Freshman Tiara Bolden also made her name known in the opening bout for La Salle. Her three points and seven rebounds added to a great first win.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS:
- Maine comes off of their first game of the season in a 70-57 loss to Quinnipiac on Monday.
- Three players had double-digit scoring nights all led by Anne Simon with 11.
- Adrianna Smith was a major contributor for the Black Bears on Monday. The junior tallied 10 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in the loss.
- As a team the Black Bears struggled from three-point range against Quinnipiac only converting four of their 25 attempts.
- Maine made most of their living from inside the paint in the first game. 36 of their 57 points were scored from close range.
- This will be the first matchup between La Salle and Maine.
