Men's Basketball Hosts Rosemont in Thursday Matinee

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle men's basketball returns home for the first time in over two weeks as it hosts Rosemont College in a Thursday afternoon tilt at Tom Gola Arena. The second half of a hoops doubleheader with the women's team, who hosts Villanova in the first game of the day, the men's contest is scheduled to tip at 2:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Kale Beers and Bron Holland delivering the play-by-play and color commentary. In addition, Explorers fans can follow the team on X @LaSalle_MBB and Instagram @lasallembb.

There will also be a pre-game reception at the Hideaway at Blue and Gold Commons. The Hideaway will open 90 minutes prior to tip-off to all fans.

NEWS & NOTES
  • La Salle is coming off a road loss at then-#24 Miami (Fla.) on Dec. 16, a game that saw the Explorers cut their margin to four with less than four minutes to play before falling by a score of 84-77.
  • Junior Khalil Brantley, who paces the squad in scoring at 16.7 points per game, had 23 points in the contest and shot 10-for-18 from the field.
  • Senior Jhamir Brickus had eight assists and currently leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 32nd nationally in assists per game at 5.5. 
  • The Explorers enter the game with a perfect 6-0 record at Tom Gola Arena inside TruMark Financial Center, and look to start 7-0 at home for the first time since 2011-12, when they began the year 12-0 at their home venue.
  • Junior Daeshon Shepherd grabbed a team-best eight boards against the Hurricanes, and currently leads the team at 6.3 per contest.
  • Brickus stands 43 points away from becoming the 58th Explorer to reach 1,000 points for his career.
  • Sophomore Andres Marrero knocked down three of his five three-point attempts against Miami (Fla.) and is connecting on 49.1 percent of his three-point attempts, good for sixth in the Atlantic 10.
SCOUTING ROSEMONT
  • The Ravens stand at 2-8 on the year, having most recently fallen to Cabrini, 78-74, on Tuesday night.
  • Denelle Holly had 22 points and seven rebounds to pace Rosemont, while Dejuan Taylor added 15.
  • Bob Hughes is in his 12th season as head coach at Rosemont and was named Colonial States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2015.
  • He is the program's all-time leader in career victories as a head coach.

  • Thursday marks the first game ever played between Rosemont and La Salle in men's basketball.
