A Quick Turnaround has Women’s Basketball Set to Face Rutgers Tuesday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – La Salle women's basketball will travel to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Tuesday night starting at 7:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on Big 10 +.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle is coming off a loss to Virginia on Sunday 94-73 in a came where four different Explorers scored double-digit points.
  • Makayla Miller, Tiara Bolden, Nicole Melious, and Amber Bullard all scored at least 10 points in the contest against Virginia.
  • Sunday was the second straight game in which Miller led the team in points scored. She scored a season-high 23 points last Wednesday in a loss to the Penn Quakers. Miller also had seven rebounds against the Hoos.
  • Bolden has progressed greatly over the last three games, increasing her point total as she goes. In the game with Virginia, she shot 50% from the field and was 3/7 from long-range. She tied a season-high in rebounds with six.
  • This will be the ninth match up between Rutgers and La Salle all-time. The only two games won by La Salle occurred in the 1975 and 1976 season, the following six games have been won by Rutgers.
  • The last meeting was in 2013 in New Jersey. Rutgers topped the Explorers 59-57
 
SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS:
  • Rutgers is coming off a 69-48 win over Lafayette last Friday getting them to 5-5 overall this season.
  • The Scarlet Knights have faced three notable opponents in their ten games thus far including Auburn, Seton Hall, and Texas Tech, all resulting in losses.
  • Kaylene Smikle stands out in scoring for Rutgers averaging 16.4 points per game this season. The sophomore guard is shooting 41.5% from the field and 30.4% from three.
  • Senior center Chyna Cornwell is a force under the basket this season. She leads the team with 89 total rebounds, a large percent of those coming on the defensive end.
