La Salle University athletic programs ranked in the top 15 percent among all NCAA Division I schools in the NCAA's annual Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report, which was released on Wednesday. La Salle earned a score of 96 to tie for 40th nationally, and tied with Penn for second among Philadelphia Big 5 institutions.
A total of nine La Salle teams registered perfect scores of 100, including men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, field hockey, women's rowing, women's soccer, women's swimming & diving, and women's cross country/track & field.
Since the GSR program began, La Salle has had 138 teams with a perfect score. The women's soccer program has received recognition 15 times, the most by a single La Salle program. This marks the 12th consecutive year that women's basketball has obtained a perfect score, while the men's basketball team has done so in each of the last nine years. In addition, 18 of the 19 varsity programs recorded scores above the Federal Graduation Rate for their respective sports.
The GSR was developed in response to colleges and universities who asked for an alternative rate that more accurately reflects the movement among college student-athletes. The GSR takes into account transfers who graduate from a different institution than the one they started at and transfers who leave an institution in good standing.
