Three-Point Barrage Leads Men's Basketball to Victory Over Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. - The La Salle University men's basketball team knocked down 15 three-point field goals and overcame a slow start to earn a 67-51 victory over Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. The win is the third straight for the Explorers, who improve to 8-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Explorers were connecting from deep early, as they hit four of their first seven attempts from long range. 
  • Jhamir Brickus hit a pair of triples during the stretch, as La Salle took an 18-13 lead midway through the period.
  • Both teams slogged through a tough stretch offensively for the remainder of the stanza.
  • La Salle shot just 34.4 percent and Lafayette committed 12 turnovers over the first 20 minutes, as the Explorers entered the locker room with a 28-24 lead.
  • The start of the second half saw the Explorers connect on six of their first nine three-point attempts.
  • Marrero, who one-upped his career-high he set in points on Wednesday night, had four three-pointers in the second half and tallied 20 points overall.
  • His trifecta with 11:44 remaining gave La Salle a double-figure lead for the first time at 50-39, and the margin remained in double figures the rest of the way.

  • La Salle's 15 three-pointers were the most since they hit 16 threes in a win over Fordham on Jan. 2, 2021.
  • A year after allowing 90 points to the Leopards, La Salle held Lafayette to 51 points on Saturday, the lowest total allowed by the Explorers this season.
  • The Explorers also went 8-of-9 from the charity stripe on Saturday afternoon.
  • Lafayette committed 15 turnovers compared to La Salle's 10, with the Explorers tallying a season-best 12 steals.
  • Brickus closed with 14 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals.
  • Khalil Brantley pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go along with seven points and six assists.
