GLENSIDE, Pa. — Freshman
Anthony Garcia placed second while leading the La Salle men's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday at LuLu Country Club's par-71 course.
Garcia finished the two-day tournament with a 3-under-par 139 to finish in a tie for second and six shots behind Villanova's Peter Weaver for first. The Miami, Fla. native carded a 6-under 65 in the opening round on Monday, then shot a 3-over 74 in Tuesday's final round.
In doing so, Garcia guided the Explorers to a total score of 2-over-par 570, good enough to finish two strokes behind Villanova in the team standings.
Along with Garcia, the Explorers saw
Nikita Romanov also place in the top 10, as the senior tied for seventh with an even-par 142. The Wilmington, Del. native shot a 2-under 69 in the first round and posted a 2-over 73 in the final round.
Freshman
Kevin Lydon followed Romanov, as he finished in a tie for 18
th with a 3-over 145. The Doylestown, Pa. native carded a 1-over 72 in the first round, but shot a 2-over 73 on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Alex Gekas rounded out the Explorers' top four by tying for 29
th with a 5-over 147. The York, Pa. native bounced back from a 3-over 74 in the opening round to card a 2-over 73 to in the final round.
The Explorers will be back on the golf course on Sunday and Monday when they play in the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational at Northampton Golf Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
