Verona, NY - Over the long weekend, the La Salle men's golf team competed in the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College at Kaluhyat Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort.
In their first action of the season, the Explorers placed fourth as a team and were lead by senior
Benjamin Battye and sophomore
Payton Hawke, each of whom shot +13 and finished in a tie for 11th place. Participating as an independent player, freshman Colin Ferrick impressed in his collegiate debut. The Huntersville, NC native sat in a tie for second place at the conclusion of day one and shot +7 over the entirety of play. He also led the field in strokes per par four (4.03) and finished second in birdies (10).
Also impressing in his collegiate debut was
Kyle Virsik, who finished in a tie for most birdies with 11. The freshman finished in a tie for 22nd place. Junior
Gavin Dosch finished in a tie for 31st. Senior
Jackson Debusschere and Ferrick each registered only a single double bogey+, which also led the field. Hawke finished closely behind with two.
Following their best finish in a tournament since the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational in October 2024, the Explorers will travel to Greensboro, NC to compete in the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by the UNC Greensboro.
