Easton, PA - The La Salle University men's golf team completed the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational at Northampton Country Club on Monday, finishing ninth in a 15-team field. Across two rounds, the Explorers posted a team total of 23-over par, highlighted by a top-10 individual finish from junior Gavin Dosch.
Dosch led the way with a tie for eighth individually at 1-over for the tournament. He opened with an impressive 2-under-par in round one, then closed with a 3-over in round two. Dosch's eight birdies were the second-most by any player in the field, reflecting his ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. His finish marked the best individual result for a La Salle player at this event.
Freshman Kyle Virsik contributed a consistent tournament, tying for 32nd at 6-over (rounds of 76 and 74). Virsik excelled on par-3s, leading all players in the field with an even-par 3.00 average. Sophomore Payton Hawke finished tied for 36th at 7-over, pacing the Explorers with 24 pars across the two rounds, the third-highest total among all contestants. Senior Armand Loscalzo improved by five strokes from the first to the second round, carding a 2-over in round two to finish in a tie for 48th at 9-over. Jackson Debusschere, competing as an individual, also tied for 48th at 9-over.
The field-wide average score was over four strokes above par per round, underscoring the challenging conditions at Northampton Country Club. The par-3 fourth, par-4 eighth and par-4 fifth ranked as the most difficult holes, while the par-5 seventh and 11th provided the only subpar scoring chances.
La Salle returns to action Friday, April 17, as they head to Staten Island to face Wagner for Senior Day in a dual match. The Explorers will then cap the spring season at the Atlantic 10 Championship April 27-29 at Evermore Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
