SPRINGFIELD, Pa. —
Freshman Anthony Garcia tied for 11th place to lead the La Salle men's golf team at the Columbia Spring Invitational at Rolling Green Golf Club's par-70 course.
Garcia shot a 4-over-par 144 in the 36-hole event. The Miami, Fla. native posted a 4-over 74 in the first round, but carded an even 70 in the final round for the Explorers, who finished 10th in the team standings with a total of 45-over 745.
After Garcia, the Explorers saw
Alex Gekas finish in the top 30, as he tied for 29
th after shooting a 7-over 147. Like Garcia, Gekas had a strong final round, firing an even 70 after posting a 77 in the first round.
Nikita Romanov and Karsen Rush finish with a 12-over 152 to end in a tie for 56
th. Romanov carded a 77 in the opening round, then bounced back with a 75. Rush did the opposite of Romanov, posting a 75 in the first round before ending the day with a 77 over the final 18 holes.
Kevin Lydon rounded out the Explorers' lineup with a 13-over 153. Lydon's best round was in the opening round, where he shot a 2-over 72.
The Explorers will hit the links next Monday and Tuesday when they compete in the Wildcat Invitational at LuLu Country Club in Glenside.
