VILLANOVA, Pa. – The La Salle women's water polo team struggled to find the back of the cage against Mount St. Mary's dropping the contest 20-8 on Friday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mount St. Mary's took an early one-goal lead over the Explorers with La Salle responding with a 2-0 run to take a single-goal lead back over the Mountaineers, 2-1, with 2:30 to play in the first period. The Mountaineers put together a two-goal run to end the frame to take a 3-2 lead over the Explorers into the second period.
- The Mountaineers pulled ahead by three, 5-2, with back-to-back goals to start the frame. The Explorers' offense got going around the 5:46 mark with Madelyn Koerper firing the ball into the back of the net to cut the deficit to two, 5-3. Another two-goal run from the Mount was answered by Hannah Woren for the Explorers to bring the deficit back down to three, 7-4. The Mountaineers held the 5-1 edge through the rest of the half to take a 12-5 lead into the second half of action.
- La Salle struggled in the second half putting up just two goals while allowing eight from Mount St. Mary's for the 20-8 loss.

- The Explorers return to action tomorrow, Apr. 8 at 2:15 p.m. against St. Francis Brooklyn. The contest will take place at Villanova marking the final local contest of the season.
