WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — The La Salle men's rowing team saw its 2nd Varsity 8+ and Varsity 8+ boats finish among the top 18 teams in the country following their performances on Sunday at the 120th IRA National Championship Regatta at Mercer Lake.

"Amazing weekend behind us as we raced at IRA national championships for the first time in school history with both the Varsity 8+ and the 2nd Varsity 8+," La Salle head coach Ivo Krakic said. "Our V8+ finished 18th and our 2V8+ finished 16th in the country!"

The Explorers' 2nd Varsity 8+ capped its time on the water as the 16th-best team in the country after placing fourth in the C final in a time of 6:02.88. In the process, the 2V8 beat its original ranking of 21st that it had coming into the event. Along with this finish, the 2V8 had a historic spring season that included two gold medals at the Kerr Cup and Murphy Cup, a silver medal at the Bergen Cup, a bronze medal at the Knecht Cup, and a fourth-place finish at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta.

The Varsity 8+ concluded its time this spring as the 18th-best team in the nation after taking sixth in the C final in 5:55.84. The V8 bested its original ranking of 19th in the nation with its performance. In addition to its finish, the V8 also had a historic spring that included silver medals at Dad Vails, Bergen Cup, Kerr Cup, and Murphy Cup, and two bronze medals at the Knecht Cup and Windermere Cascade Cup.

"We went in ranked 19th in the V8 and 21st in the 2V8+," Krakic said. "Our goal was to try and beat that and we managed to do it with both boats. This was a fantastic end to an amazing season! Thank you to everyone for their support this year and stay tuned as we look to do amazing things this fall!"
