Men's Basketball | July 18, 2023

PHILADELPHIA The La Salle men's basketball team announced the addition of Swedish forward Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi to the 2023-24 roster on Tuesday.

"We are ecstatic to have Tunde join our program," La Salle head coach Fran Dunphy said. "Tunde is a talented, versatile player. He's going to have a significant impact on our program immediately."

A native of Solna, Sweden, the 6-foot-8 forward comes to 20th and Olney after being a member of Sweden's National Team for the last four years.

Fasasi played some of his best basketball for his country's U18 National Team during the 2022 FIBA European Championship, leading the team to the Division B championship after averaging 19.4 points per game on 53.1 percent shooting (52-for-98). His best performance came in the semifinals, where he dropped 29 points while shooting 52.2 percent from the field and recording a plus-minus of 25. For his efforts, he was named to the tournament's All-Star team.

This year, Fasasi is currently competing with Sweden's U20 National Team, averaging 9.1 points per game during the FIBA European Championship.

Fasasi also played for AIK Basket and graduated from the Hoosac School (N.Y.), where he earned the President's Award for educational excellence.
