Field Hockey Drops Season-Opener at Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle field hockey team came behind from a two-goal deficit to cut it to a single goal in the final seconds of the contest dropping the season opener at Temple 2-1 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first quarter was slow moving for both teams with Temple being the first to get a shot off in the final few minutes off the first penalty corner attempt of the game.
  • The Owls took a single-goal lead with just under three minutes left in the half off only the second penalty corner of game.
  • The momentum continued coming out of the half with the Owls converting just one minute in to take a 2-0 lead over the Explorers. A penalty corner and shot from freshman Dunja Hartsch in the final second of the frame gave La Salle its first chance at the cage.
  • The Explorers took that energy into the final 15 minutes rattling off three consecutive shots over the course of a minute totaling six shots and one penalty stroke in the frame before a final penalty corner attempt with four seconds left in the game saw a Clara Larripa goal, assisted by Sofia Pla, to cut the deficit to one.
