La Salle Tops Lock Haven in Atlantic 10 Conference Opener

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The La Salle Explorers rose to a 3-0 victory in the first contest of conference play and now sit at 5-2 overall, 1-0 in conference this season.

The Explorers will be back in action this Sunday as they travel to take on No. 10 Rutgers at 1:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Sol Espona put up four shots within the first two quarters before the teams went to the break with no score.
  • Ten minutes into the third quarter, La Salle scored the game's first goal. Julianna Smyth found the back of the cage off a rebound from the goalie. This is her second goal of the season.
  • Three minutes into the final 15 minutes, Zhao Rodrigo got her second goal of 2023. The Explorers had continual pressure early in the quarter and this goal came right behind a shot by Tatum Johnson.
  • Soon after, La Salle gave themselves a 3-0 lead. Cat McFadden found an open Sol Espona in front of the net who put the ball past the goalie. The long assist from McFadden was her first of the season.
  • Espona now sits atop of the goal leader board for La Salle with five scored.
