PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's soccer team (3-2-1) opens its Atlantic 10 schedule on Saturday, September 16, with a rivalry matchup against Saint Joseph's at McCarthy Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle looks to snap a two-match losing streak, with the most recent setback coming at the hands of NJIT, 3-2, on Tuesday.
- After falling behind by a pair of goals in the first few minutes of action, the Explorers stormed back in the second half to knot the score after goals by freshman Yuval Nimrodi and sophomore Americo Pereira.
- The Highlanders were able to find the game-winning tally shortly after La Salle's equalizer, and ultimately took the match.
- Pereira, a defender, leads the team with three goals while Nimrodi, a midfielder, has a pair of scores for the Explorers.
- Senior Drew Blackwell, who assisted on Pereira's goal in the second half against NJIT, has a team-high three assists.
- La Salle won last season's matchup against the Hawks, 2-1, as Andres Rodriguez and Nigel Buckley scored 2:36 apart late in the second half to erase a 1-0 deficit.
- Since 2009, the Explorers have a 12-1-2 record against St. Joe's.
ABOUT THE HAWKS

- Prior to that, the Hawks had earned wins at Temple and against Army West Point.
- All seven of SJU's goals have come in the last three matches, including five by Blake Driehuis.
- Bart Kooistra has the other two goals and a team-best two assists.
