NEWS & NOTES

  • Leading scorer Khalil Brantley was limited to eight points on 2-of-15 shooting on Saturday.
  • Sophomore Rokas Jocius was a bright spot off the bench, scoring 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting vs. VCU.

  • Daeshon Shepherd, who leads the team in rebounding at 6.4 per contest, grabbed seven rebounds against VCU, the 10th time this season he has hauled in seven or more in a contest.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The Hawks had a strong non-conference showing, going 10-3 with wins over nationally-ranked Villanova, Princeton, and an overtime loss at Kentucky.
  • The Atlantic 10 has proven to be difficult for the Hawks, as they are off to an 0-3 start including a 78-75 loss at home to Loyola Chicago on Saturday.
  • SJU led by eight points at the 5:40 mark of the second half, but saw the Ramblers come all the way back to secure the victory.
  • Erik Reynolds II leads five players who are averaging double figures at 18.1 points per game and is connecting on nearly 40 percent of his three-point attempts.
  • Rasheer Fleming is averaging 11.3 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds, and is eighth in the A-10 at 1.5 blocked shots per game.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Hawks lead the all-time series, 68-58, in a series that dates back to 1931-32.
  • Last season, the two teams split the home-and-home series, with each squad earning a win on the other's home floor.
  • Khalil Brantley had 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists in the 73-65 win at Hagan Arena last year.
  • La Salle dominated the boards in the matchup, outrebounding SJU, 45-31.
