Swim and Dive Starts Season with Two Home Meets this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Explorers swimming and diving will begin its season this weekend beginning on Friday with a home meet against the Towson Tigers. The next day, the Explorers will stay at Kirk Pool as it hosts a new competitor when the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS (WOMEN):
  • The La Salle women finished in ninth-place last season at the A-10 Championships.
  • Junior Felicia Rogell was one of the standouts last season, winning the 200-yard IM event at six different meets, and she broke a La Salle program record in the 200-yard butterfly at the conference championships.
  • Gabrysia Herberder took seventh place in the 400-yard IM final at A-10's, and got a personal best in the prelims with a time of 4:21.55.
  • For the distance side of swim events, Raven Domingo got four podium finishes in the 500-yard free, and set three personal bests at the A-10's in the 500-yard, 1000-yard, and 1650-yard free events.
  • On the diving end, Tiffany Brawn was a strong force, winning the 1m diving event at six different meets and the 3m diving event at three separate meets.
  • The team is welcoming five women to the roster.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS (MEN):
  • The La Salle men finished in seventh-place last season at the A-10 Championships.
  • The 400-free relay team of Felix Jedbratt, Tarik Gusic, Zack Miller, and Carter Perkins in 2:56.52, good enough for third place at the A-10's and a new program record in the event. All but Miller return this year.
  • In the 400-medley relay, the men's team of Jedbratt, Gusic, Perkins, and Andrea Savoca would finish second at conference, with a time of 3:11.61.
  • Savoca was dominant in other events at the conference championship meet, winning the 100-yard breast and getting second in the 200-yard breast.
  • Jedbratt recorded podium finished in other events too, getting runner-up finishes in the 50-yard and 100-yard free, and the 100-yard fly. In each of these events, he recorded personal bests.
  • For diving, Lucas Dekaney shined bright, getting third in the 3m diving finals at the conference championships and winning the 1m and 3m diving events at three different meets last year.
  • The Explorers are welcoming seven men to the roster this year.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
  • The Towson women's team is coming off a fifth-place finish at its conference championship meet in the 2023-24 season.
  • The Tiger men finished in third place in the CAA Championships last season.
  • The head coach of the Tigers is Anthony Bruno.
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS:
  • The Johns Hopkins men's team finished 14th in the NCAA Division III Championships last year
  • On the women's side, the Blue Jays ended up in 11th place at the NCAA DIII Championships. Scott Armstrong is the head coach for the team.
