HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams came out of the gate competing hard in the midfield. The defense in the half-circle held strong, including both goalies.
- Only one penalty corner was awarded throughout the first quarter of play, which went to the Minutewomen.
- The second corner of the game for UMass proved to be the best opportunity for either side so far, and the Minutewomen took advantage of it.
- Neva Eisenga took the inserted pass and fired it on goal, which was then deflected off of a defender and into the back of the cage.
- La Salle would not go away and continued to play the Minutewomen hard. The Explorers tallied three penalty corners in the third to keep the small lead held by UMass in flux.
- In the early stages of the fourth frame, Matilda Diedrichsen took in a penalty corner insertion and fired it into the back of the cage for the equalizer. Sofia Pla assisted on the play.
- Within the span of one minute, Massachusetts had three penalty corners, all of which were swayed off by the Explorers defense and goalie.
- A foul in the half-circle with just 19 seconds remaining allowed UMass to have one more penalty corner opportunity, and they converted. Elena Cloconeanu found Claire Danahy who gave the Minutewomen the late lead for the win.
