HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The defenses had a big role in a mainly one-sided match on Tuesday. Early on, the Explorers defense was being tested and they held strong.
  • Abby Boggs saw two shots on goal within the first seven minutes of the game, saving both attempts at a goal.
  • Boggs had three more shots thrown her way before the end of the quarter, all of which were saved.
  • Cornell continued to apply offensive pressure on the Explorers in the second, but to no avail as we went to the half scoreless.
  • The second half mirrored the first half in that the Cornell offense remained consistent, and the La Salle offense was struggling.
  • In the 37th minute of the game, however, the Big Red connected. Grace Leahy scored the difference in the contest, putting Cornell up 1-0.
  • La Salle tried to find the equalizer, but could not connect. Perhaps their best opportunity of the game came on the lone penalty corner of the day, but no shot got off on the play.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Explorers were not able to get a shot off against Cornell, the first time all season that has happened.
  • Abby Boggs marked a career-high in saves against the Big Red with 12. Her save percentage is now up to .768 on the season.
  • Cornell out-dueled La Salle in penalty corners 8-1.
