Men's Soccer Falls to Loyola Chicago

Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team fell to Loyola Chicago by a score of 2-1. La Salle's record is 5-7-3 overall, and 2-3-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Randy Burkhardt, returning in goal for the Explorers, made his first save on a diving stop in the 14th minute.
  • He then made two quick saves, one in the 20th minute and the next a minute later, to keep the score 0-0.
  • In the 27th minute, Burkhardt made his fourth save of the half.
  • To start the second half, Burkhardt would make his first save of the final frame in the 50th minute.
  • Four minutes later, the Explorers keeper made another stop to preserve the tie.
  • Loyola Chicago found the break through in the 63rd minute after a previous shot was blocked.
  • La Salle's Alexandru Zama had a shot that went just wide right in the 66th minute.
  • Another save was made by Burkhardt in the 69th minute to keep the margin at just one.
  • The Explorers would tie the game in the 73rd minute, when Nevin Baer pressed the keeper and beat him to the ball, leading to an easy tap-in on an open goal.
  • Loyola Chicago got back in front in the 80th minute.
  • Burkhardt would make his last save of the game in the 85th minute.
GAME NOTES:
  • Goalie Randy Burkhardt tied a career-high in shots saved with eight.
  • By setting up Baer on La Salle's goal, Drew Blackwell recorded his team-leading fourth assist.
  • La Salle's goal was its only shot on goal in the game.
