Men's Soccer Falls to Loyola Chicago

Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team fell to Loyola Chicago by a score of 2-1. La Salle's record is 5-7-3 overall, and 2-3-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Randy Burkhardt, returning in goal for the Explorers, made his first save on a diving stop in the 14th minute.
He then made two quick saves, one in the 20th minute and the next a minute later, to keep the score 0-0.
In the 27th minute, Burkhardt made his fourth save of the half.
To start the second half, Burkhardt would make his first save of the final frame in the 50th minute.
Four minutes later, the Explorers keeper made another stop to preserve the tie.
Loyola Chicago found the break through in the 63rd minute after a previous shot was blocked.
La Salle's Alexandru Zama had a shot that went just wide right in the 66th minute.
Another save was made by Burkhardt in the 69th minute to keep the margin at just one.
The Explorers would tie the game in the 73rd minute, when Nevin Baer pressed the keeper and beat him to the ball, leading to an easy tap-in on an open goal.
Loyola Chicago got back in front in the 80th minute.
Burkhardt would make his last save of the game in the 85th minute.

GAME NOTES:

Goalie Randy Burkhardt tied a career-high in shots saved with eight.
By setting up Baer on La Salle's goal, Drew Blackwell recorded his team-leading fourth assist.
La Salle's goal was its only shot on goal in the game.
