HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The game began quickly for the Ram's offense. A quick corner and shot by Morena Marcera got VCU on the board just 48 seconds into the game.
  • The offensive pressure continued throughout the first quarter for VCU, and they connected again before the expiration of the frame.
  • Again, off of the corner attempt, the Rams found their second goal thanks to Ella Fehr and the assist coming from Ana Afonso. La Salle was held shotless in the first quarter.
  • Early on in the second George Carr-Brown connected yet again for the Rams. Ana Afonso secured another assist on the day as VCU led 3-0.
  • Less than a minute later, the Rams offense struck again. Fehr notched her second goal of the day on an unassisted play in which she got the ball over the goalie's head and into the cage.
  • The Explorer offense had been held to three shots by the end of the first half.
  • After the break, VCU picked up right where they left off. Ava Radel added one more goal for VCU. Macera was on the assist on the play.
  • The Explorers would make a push back on offense, but ultimately would not have any goals to show for it.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • VCU led the way in shots 14 opposed to the La Salle seven.
  • The Explorers could only get off one shot on goal.
  • VCU had double the amount of corner attempts La Salle had 8-4.
