RICHMOND – La Salle field hockey fell to the Richmond Spiders by a score of 4-0. The Explorers now shift focus to Sunday when they take on the Longwood Lancers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Spider offense was suppressing throughout the duration of the first half of this contest.
• Clara Larripa made her presence known early, as she connected on the game's opening goal off of a penalty corner attempt.
• Richmond was able to attempt five penalty inserts, with Larripa's goal being the result of one of them.
• Early in the second quarter, a deflection off of the pads of Abby Boggs allowed Margaret Scheurer to secure her first goal of the season and double the Spider lead.
• La Salle was able to get their offense going in the third, and it was driven by Sofia Pla and Zhao Rodrigo. The duo, although unable to convert, each had shots to try and get the Explorers on the board.
• The Explorers had six penalty corner attempts in the third quarter.
• The Spiders, however added another goal, off the stick of Larripa.
• Richmond added one more goal on in the fourth to walk away with a 4-0 win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• La Salle ended the game with seven shots and seven penalty corners, three shots were on goal.
• Boggs finished with nine saves on the day.
• Pla, Rodrigo, and Sofia Enriquez each notched two or more shots for La Salle.
