Men's Soccer Scores Twice in Final Ten Minutes to Win Against GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The La Salle men's soccer team completed an epic comeback Saturday afternoon against George Washington, winning 2-1 with two goals scored in the final ten minutes. The team concludes its regular season with an overall record of 6-7-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a couple of George Washington shots to start the game, Colin Beasley fired a shot wide of goal in the 19th minute.
  • George Washington scored the opening goal two minutes later.
  • Explorers' goalie Tino Kneis made his first save of the game in the 29th minute.
  • After a shot by George Washington that hit the crossbar in the 33rd minute, Drew Blackwell fired a shot on frame that was saved by the Revolutionaries' goalie in the 40th minute.
  • Beasley had a shot on goal that was saved three minutes later.
  • In the 56th minute, Andoni Garrogerricaechebarria fired a shot on frame as well, only again the opposing goal made the stop.
  • Five minutes later, Nevin Baer had a shot saved.
  • La Salle would go down to ten men when Beasley picked up his second yellow card in the 77th minute.
  • Three minutes later, the Explorers would tie it, with Baer scoring off a pass from Blackwell.
  • The Explorers would completely flip the script five minutes later when Blackwell smashed it into the net to give the team the lead.
  • La Salle closed out the final minutes for its first come-from-behind win of the season.
GAME NOTES:
  • With the two late goals, La Salle has scored seven goals in the last 15 minutes of play this season.
  • Shots were 15-10 in favor of La Salle.
  • Blackwell now leads the team in assists by himself with five. All five assists have come within the last six games.

  • La Salle has made the conference playoffs and will play #1 seed George Mason Friday night at 7 p.m. on the road.
