Women's Basketball To Take On Penn In Big 5 Classic On Friday

Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle women's basketball team will play in the inaugural Big 5 Championship this upcoming Friday on the campus of Villanova University, as the Explorers face off against Penn in the 5th place game at 3:30 pm on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus.
 
Scouting The Explorers
  • The Explorers opened Atlantic 10 play with a 55-45 victory at Loyola Chicago on Tuesday night.
  • Four Explorers eclipsed double-digit points against the Ramblers in Aryss Macktoon (11), Ashleigh Connor (11), Ayisse Magasse (10), and Mackenzie Daleba (10).
  • La Salle has won four of its last five games going into Friday's contest.
  • The Explorers are 36-14 all-time against Penn, including a 3-0 mark in neutral site games. The two teams last met at a neutral site in 1995, with the Explorers earning a 88-56 victory.
  • La Salle is 49th nationally with 11.2 steals per contest, which is good for second in the Atlantic 10. Sophomore Aryss Macktoon leads the Explorers with 28 steals on the season, which is fifth in the country.

Scouting The Quakers
  • Penn enters Friday's matchup with a 6-3 record.
  • Most recently, the Quakers earned victories over Chattanooga and Cal Baptist at the FGCU Homewood Suites Tournament.
  • Stina Almquist leads the Quakers with 18.9 points per game.
