HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Explorers came out with a new starting five featuring four members of today's senior day celebration. Molly Masciantonio, Makayla Miller, Julie Jekot, and Ashley Hopper all cracked the starting five in today's meeting with VCU.
  • The Ram's offense got off to a quick start on the day, opening the first six minutes of the game on an 11-2 run, showing how good their defense really is.
  • The later stages of the first, however, the Explorers pulled closer to the Rams. Masciantonio knocked down a bank-shot three-pointer, pulling La Salle within six.
  • Two possessions later, Miller hit the same shot for La Salle, this time bringing the Explorers within three points.
  • The second quarter was the biggest problem for La Salle in today's contest. Sarah Te-Biasu and Timaya Lewis-Eutsey each contributed to the big quarter for VCU.
  • The Rams ourscored the Explorers 17-2 at the two-minute mark in the second. By the end of the half, La Salle found themselves down 42-24.
  • To start the second, Tiara Bolden added her third three-point shot of the game and her 11th points two minutes into the third.
  • Emma Egan also contributed on offense for the Explorers in today's game, stepping up and making shots when she needed to in the third, finishing the quarter with five points.
  • Entering the fourth down 25, the Explorer offense took a bigger hit. A big contributor on the day, Tiara Bolden, fouled out in the early stages of the fourth.
  • In the later stages of the game, the senior starters made a return to court. Ashley Hopper saw action towards the end of the game, and played hard, getting fouled and going to the line.
  • Hopper converted one of her two shots from the charity stripe.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Explorers had three members in double-digits today, Masciantonio with 12, Bolden with 11, and Miller with 11.
  • Emma Egan set a career-high in points scored in her young career today with eight points.
  • Ashley Hopper scored her second point of her career in today's match up, late at the free-throw line.
