PHILADELPHIA - Fresh off a historic season that saw multiple varsity boats place in the final IRCA/IRA Top 25 poll, the La Salle men's rowing team returns to action on Saturday with a tri-meet against rival Drexel and Villanova. Racing starts on the Schuylkill River at 11:15 a.m.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS

• La Salle is looking to build upon a solid fall season that saw the Explorers earn a pair of medals at the Head of the Charles and three top-four finishes at the Head of the Schuylkill.
• Eight members of the Dad Vail silver-medal winning Varsity 8 return, led by a trio of All-Americans in Patrik Farkaš, Robin Hamann, and Nick O'Neill.
• The trio is joined by graduate student coxswain Trevor Fawcett to provide the top La Salle boat with plenty of returning experience and firepower.
• Bow seat junior Joe Yeager is another veteran that will sit in the V8, as is junior Joel Bevenour who will take the second seat.
• Three newcomers will start the year in the top boat - junior transfer Marlon Bayer, freshman Derek Cushman, and freshman Predrag Cvetkovic.
• The second varsity eight will consist of eight returners and a newcomer - including Johann Kroll, Elmo Van Olm, Viktor Susic, who were members of the top boat last season.
• La Salle will also have a 4+ boat in the mix on Saturday, with senior Bobby Cuviello providing the most experience of the group.

ABOUT DREXEL, VILLANOVA

• Drexel edged La Salle in last year's Dad Vail Championship and started its spring season with impressive performances at the Las Vegas Invite on March 2.
• The Dragons bettered Oregon State and San Diego in its first Varsity 8 race, then bettered UC San Diego in its final race of the day.
• Villanova, a member of the American Collegiate Rowing Association, will also compete on Saturday.
