Water Polo Wraps Regular Season at Home

PHILADELPHIA- The. La Salle Water Polo team will play their final regular season matches at home this weekend. The games will take place at 10 am against VMI followed by No. 20 LIU at 4 pm on April 13th. On Sunday the Explorers will face No. 18 Wagner at 10 am and Villanova at 5 pm on April 14th for Senior Day. The celebration for the senior class will begin at 3:45 pm. A strong weekend coinciding with positive results around the conference will send the Explorers to the MAAC Championships.

Scouting the Explorers:
  • Coming off a big win 13-8 against cross town rival Villanova, the Explorers are 3-5 in conference with an overall record of 13-16, looking to improve their record this weekend.
  • Francesca Co' leads the team with 85 goals, 25 assists and 110 points.
  • Casey Malone led the Explorers in their previous victory against Villanova with 6 goals.
  • Freshman Martina Bonet Saez leads the team defensively with a total of 48 steals on the season.
Scouting VMI:
  • VMI enters this weekend with a 0-10 conference record and 5-17 overall.
  • Courtney Novotny leads the team with goals (64) and points (79) and Caragh Osborne leads in assists (21)
  • In their previous match up against Villanova, Sadie Smith had four assists and a hat trick
  • This contest takes place on Saturday, April 13th at 10 am.
Scouting No. 20/20 LIU:
  • LIU stands 20-6 on the season with an 8-2 conference record. Both conference losses were against the Wagner Seahawks
  • Paola Dominguez-Castro leads the team with 82 goals and 95 points.
  • This past weekend against Marist and Siena, Sydney DeVroedt scored a team high of 11 goals and earned the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week
  • This contest takes place on Saturday, April 13th at 4 pm.
Scouting No. 18/18 Wagner:                                    
  • The Seahawks are 10-0 in the conference with an overall record of 24-4.
  • Wagner is on a two game winning streak after recently falling 13-12 to No. 16 Princeton in a non-conference match up.
  • Leading goal scorer Carlota Alonso stands with 92 goals and 121 points this season.
  • Contest takes place at 10 am on Sunday, April 14th.
Scouting Villanova:
  • Villanova goes into this weekend with a overall record of 21-8 and a conference record of 5-4.
  • Both Stella Byles and Emily McKenzie scored twice in the previous match up against the Explorers.
  • This game will begin at 5pm on Sunday, April 14th to conclude the tournament.
