WASHINGTON, D.C. – Explorers women's lacrosse ends the 2024 season on a high note as they defeated the George Washington Revolutionaries by a final score of 13-12.
Claudia Steinmetz led the way for La Salle scoring a career-high five goals in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- La Salle got started early in the best way they knew how, with Claudia Steinmetz. The senior scored the game's first goal with just over a minute into the game.
- Two goals by the Revs had La Salle down one, but less than a minute later Sam Klein notched the equalizing goal for the Blue & Gold. Mackenzie Click assisted on the play.
- Click would then add another point to her day, this time by scoring a goal. The senior got the go-ahead goal for La Salle with 8:58 remaining in the first.
- Steinmetz would score her second goal of the game with 3:04 left in the first and would be the final goal scored in the first quarter as La Salle led 4-2.
- Throughout the course of the second quarter, George Washington would begin to take over the game. Emma Nowakowski and Everly Kessler would help in tying the game with just over ten minutes left in the half.
- Kessler combined with Phoebe Mullarkey would help give the Revs the lead with 3:07 left in the second (6-4, GW).
- Prior to the expiration of the half, Steinmetz would add her third goal of the game to get La Salle within one goal at halftime.
- The entirety of the second half was back and forth. Emma McLaughlin would add another goal for GW, but Katie Johnson would score her first goal to bring the Explorers back within one.
- Click added another goal to her day in a woman-up scenario for La Salle, this goal would tie the game at seven.
- McLaughlin netted the next goal of the game for GW to get them up 8-7, but with 16 seconds remaining in the third, Johnson would tie the game for the Explorers with her second goal of the day.
- The Revolutionaries would pull away early in the fourth adding two more goals before Johnson scored her third of the day to make it 10-9 GW.
- A somewhat similar sequence would unfold in the coming minutes with Kessler adding one for GW, but Click would respond for La Salle on a free-position shot, her third of the game.
- Kessler scored once more for GW, but from that point on it was all La Salle. Johnson and Steinmetz combined for three goals in the final five minutes of the game, with Steinmetz netting her fifth, and the game-winner with 2:22 remaining.
- GW had one more opportunity late, but Mary Babbage made the save to get the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Claudia Steinmetz led both teams in goals scored finishing the day with five, a career-high. She finishes the season with 19 goals, the most for her in a single season in her career.
- Katie Johnson added four more goals to her season total today and ended the season scoring four goals in three straight games. She finishes the year with 35 goals.
- Mackenzie Click scored three goals today to finish the season second in goals scored with 22 total, the most she's scored in a single season in her career.
- Mary Babbage ended the day with 12 saves, enough to get her her first career win at the collegiate level.
