PHILADELPHIA – Longtime La Salle men's basketball staffer Mike
Doyle, who is entering his sixth season at La Salle, has been named the newest assistant coach of the La Salle men's basketball program, head coach
Fran Dunphy announced on Tuesday. This is
Doyle's second promotion in four years.
"For six years, Mike has demonstrated exceptional dedication to La Salle basketball," Dunphy said. "I have no doubt he will excel as a bench coach for our program."
Doyle had spent the last three seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Explorers. In this role, he played a lead role in all day-to-day activities of the basketball program, including scheduling, travel, and acting as liaison to personnel across the athletic department.
"I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to continue helping Coach Dunphy and the La Salle basketball program," stated Doyle. "Coach Dunphy is a leader in so many ways and I am appreciative of this opportunity. I am looking forward to helping further develop our student athletes both on and off the court."
Prior to his role as Director of Basketball Operations, Doyle spent 2019-21 as a men's basketball graduate assistant. Doyle arrived at 20th and Olney after playing four seasons at Cabrini University in nearby Radnor, Pa. A three-time member of the Colonial States Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team, Doyle played in 85 games over the course of his career and was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams.
As a junior, Doyle and the Cavaliers went 26-4 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Doyle graduated from Cabrini with a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education in 2019. He was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as a member of its Honors Court.
