Women’s Water Polo Receive 2023-24 Academic Honors

EDISON, NJ (July 22, 2024) – All nine MAAC Water Polo teams were named recipients of the ACWPC Team Academic Award as well as 111 individuals student-athletes, as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for distinguished achievement in the classroom for the 2023-2024 school year. The teams honored all held a cumulative GPA that exceeded the threshold of 3.0.

The ACWPC All-Academic list celebrates student-athletes for their success in the classroom, recognizing any athlete who maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20, so long as they were listed as active for at least one match during the season. Student-athletes are recognized in one of three tiers: Outstanding for those with a cumulative GPA between 4.0 and 3.71, Superior for those with a GPA between 3.70 and 3.41, and Excellent for those with a GPA between 3.40 and 3.20.

The MAAC also announced that a total of 3,008 student-athletes were named to the 2023-24 MAAC Academic Honor Roll.
 
To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Academic Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members in the MAAC. All 24 conference-sponsored sports are represented.
 
Marist College named 334 student-athletes to the Academic Honor Roll, leading the MAAC for the 23rd consecutive year. Quinnipiac University was second with 277 student-athletes on the list, followed by Fairfield University in third with 274 recipients, then Iona University with 266 honorees, and Mount St. Mary's University rounded out the top-five with 264 selections.
 
Sacred Heart University led all MAAC associate members with 72 student-athletes selected to the Academic Honor Roll. Wagner College was second with 42 choices, LIU was next placing 40 on the list, Jacksonville University followed adding 39, while Virginia Military Institute closed out the top-five with 30 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll.
