HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The offenses for both teams came out slow, as the start of the game featured a lot of play in the neutral portion of the field.
  • The first corner attempt came in the fourth minute by the Bulldogs, but to no avail as Abby Boggs corralled the save for La Salle.
  • The Explorers answered minutes later with a corner of their own. Matilda Diedrichsen, had an opportunity for a shot, but it was blocked keeping the game scoreless.
  • Bryant was able to get off one more shot before the expiration of the first half, but Boggs made the play again for her second save of the day.
  • A third save opportunity was successful for the Explorers and Boggs as Bryant came out aggressive in the second quarter.
  • La Salle found themselves with another corner attempt, that led to a blocked shot from Sofia Pla which was followed by an unsuccessful corner on the next play.
  • Freshman Sofia Enriquez fired off her first shot of the game just seconds before the half expired, but the Bryant goalie made the save.
  • The third period of play was a back and forth between the two schools, but with little offense to show of it. Bryant was able to get off three shots and La Salle two, but the teams were unable to convert a goal.
  • Bryant recorded the only penalty corner of the fourth frame, but again Abby Boggs and the La Salle defense held strong to keep the Bulldogs off the board with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.
  • Early in the overtime period, Bryant had two game-sealing opportunities, but Boggs yet again was up for the task. The sophomore goalie saved both shots on goal to keep Bryant from scoring.
  • The lone corner attempt in the overtime period proved to be too much for Bryant. Zhao Rodrigo was the inserter on the play with Malena Balduzzi getting off the initial shot.
  • The shot from Balduzzi was saved, but on the rebound Sofia Pla snuck behind the goalie and put the loose ball into the back of the cage to send La Salle home with the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
