Amherst, MASS - The La Salle men's basketball team fell to the Massachusetts Minutemen, 82-60 on Sunday afternoon on the road.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
- La Salle got to an early lead thanks to hot shooting from three. The Explorers hit three of their first four from beyond the arc to help build a 16-11 advantage by the second media timeout.
- The Minutemen scored the next nine points to take the lead with 8:24 remaining in the first. La Salle quickly responded with a run of its own, scoring 9 of the next 13, with a deep three from Demetrius Lilley giving the squad the lead, 25-22.
- UMass scored 11 points in the final three minutes to take a 33-25 advantage into the half.
Second Half:
- The Minutemen continued their hot shooting in the second half, extending their lead to 15 points, 42-27.
- The Explorers refused to give in, scoring seven straight points to slice the lead to eight points. Jones took over the game scoring 10 points in four minutes.
- Daeshon Shepherd picked up where Jones left off, scoring six straight, including two dunks to cut the lead to just two points, 55-53. Jones tied the game at 55 off a pair of free throws with nine minutes left.
- The Minutemen scored 27 of the next 32 points to take the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jones scored 17 points, his third straight game scoring over 15 points.
- Shepherd grabbed eight rebounds for the second time in three games.

La Salle will head to St Louis for its only game outside of the Eastern time zone this season. The game will tip at 8 p.m. central, 7 p.m. eastern on ESPN+.
