PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's basketball team will play host to Duquesne on Wednesday at 11 am.
Quinn Named Rookie Of The Week
Freshman Joan Quinn earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors. Quinn led the Explorers with 14 points per game against Massachusetts and George Mason. The freshman converted on 10-24 shots while adding three steals and four rebounds. The Newtown Square, Pa. native had 13 points against UMass and 15 points against George Mason, going 5-for-12 from the field in each contest.
Quinn is second on the team in points and is averaging 8.3 points per game on the season. She has scored in double figures six times this season while averaging 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
The Series
Duquense leads the overall series between the two teams 15-7. While the Explorers trail in the overall series, they have won each of their last two home games against the Dukes. In the last meeting between the two teams, graduate student
Jolene Armendariz led the Explorers with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough, as the Dukes earned a 57-52 victory in Pittsburgh.
Connor Continues to Impress
Redshirt Sophomore Ashleigh Connor leads the Explorers with 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and three assists per contest.
Connor, who has scored in double figures in 11 of her last 14 games, is getting consistent production at the free throw line. Connor has connected on four or more free throws in five of her last eight games and ranks 16th in the Atlantic 10 in free throw percentage at 78%.
The Magic Formula
La Salle is one win away from matching last year's win total. The Explorers are 5-1 on the season when scoring 65 points or more and 6-3 when hitting 23 or more field goals throughout a contest.
Depth Is Key
The Explorers are averaging 20 bench points per game, which is seventh in the Atlantic 10. 10 or more players have recorded one or more points in eight of La Salle's last 10 games.
Scouting The Dukes
Duquesne enters play with a 12-6 overall record (3-4 in the A10), winning three of their last four games. Most recently, they defeated Rhode Island by a final score of 77-64. The team led by 24 at halftime.
Stealing The Ball
La Salle is 69th nationally with 9.8 steals per contest, which is good for third in the Atlantic 10.
Crashing The Boards
The Explorers are 74th in the country with 13.4 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10.
