PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's basketball team fell to the Loyola Chicago Ramblers, 79-68 on Wednesday night. The loss is La Salle's first at John Glaser Arena.

Corey McKeithan made his presence felt, scoring 24 points. It is his sixth game with 20 or more points this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:
  • Corey McKeithan scored the first seven points for La Salle to give the Explorers a 7-6 lead going into the first media timeout.
  • The Ramblers built a lead as high as ten points, 19-9, but La Salle climbed back into the game thanks to a tremendous effort from McKeithan combined with stingy defense. The guard scored 18 of La Salle's first 22 points. Loyola led 25-22 with seven minutes remaining in the first half.
  • An Eric Acker layup cut the lead to two points, 30-28 with 4:23 left on the board. The Ramblers scored the next seven points to take a nine-point advantage. Acker buried four more points, but Loyola drained a three to set the halftime score, 40-32 Loyola.
Second Half:
  • The teams traded baskets to start the second half, with neither side able to gain an edge. Loyola maintained a healthy advantage for the first eight minutes of the half.
  • A steal and dunk by Jahlil White spurred a run to get La Salle back into the game. Acker scored five straight points to help cut the lead to three points, 55-52 with 11:50 remaining.
  • A cold spell from the field put La Salle back down nine points, 63-54.  The Explorers continued to fight thanks to points from Acker and White. The three pointer from the Ramblers extended the lead to double-digits.
  • La Salle could not close the gap, falling, 79-68.
