Field Hockey Completes Undefeated Weekend With 4-0 Blowout Of Mercyhurst

State College, PA - La Salle picked up a strong 4-0 victory over Mercyhurst on Sunday at Penn State, improving to 5-8.

The Explorers dominated early, opening the scoring just over three minutes into the first period when senior Shea Burns converted her first goal of the day. La Salle kept the pressure on as sophomore Sofia Enriquez added a second goal in the second period, assisted by juniors Natalie Ricci and Natalie Wilson.

La Salle extended their lead in the third period with another Burns goal, again assisted by Ricci and Wilson, followed shortly by freshman Jeanne Legast finding the back of the net off a feed from Kelsey Rowe, giving La Salle a comfortable 4-0 cushion. The Explorers maintained control throughout the fourth period to secure the shutout.

Offensively, La Salle outshot Mercyhurst 25-6, including 10 penalty corners. Burns finished with two goals, Enriquez and Legast each had one, and assists were spread around, highlighting a balanced team effort. Defensively, the Explorers held the Lakers without a shot on goal.

The Explorers now look to build on this momentum as they continue conference play next Friday at Saint Louis.
