Miller Finalizes Baseball Coaching Staff Ahead Of 2026 Season

Philadelphia, PA – La Salle University baseball coach Dave Miller has announced the hiring of Mike Lake, Mike Zolk, and Joey Lancellotti as assistant coaches for the team.

"We are thrilled to have Mike Lake back in our program, as well as welcoming Mike Zolk and Joey Lancellotti to the La Salle baseball family," Miller said. "Coach Lake is a La Salle lifer who has given nearly 20 years – as a player and coach – to building this program. Coach Zolk and Lancellotti bring a wealth of experience at the highest levels of the game that will help our program tremendously on the field, in recruiting, in the classroom, and in life."

Lake returns to La Salle, his alma mater, where he played and graduated in 1982. The 2026 season will be Lake's 16th season on La Salle's coaching staff, ten of which came as head coach from 2008-2017. The 2010 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year has developed eight MLB Draft selections at La Salle. Lake, a Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame member, was most recently the head coach at Philly prep powerhouse Archbishop Ryan – also his alma mater – before retiring in 2021.

Zolk, who will work with La Salle's hitters, arrives at 20th and Olney after a successful stint in the dugout at Harford Community College, an NJCAA Division I program. As recruiting coordinator and hitting coach at Harford, Zolk engineered an offense that hit .333 and averaged over 10 runs per game during his tenure. As a player, Zolk started at second base for two seasons at the University of North Carolina, helping the Tar Heels go 105-28 with an ACC Tournament and regular season championship and College World Series appearance in 2013. No stranger to Philadelphia baseball, Zolk has also served as head coach at Neuman-Goretti High School from 2017-2022, going 77-26 and winning a state title in 2017 – a year in which he was named Southeastern Pennsylvania Coach of the Year.

Lacellotti arrives at La Salle on the heels of a professional baseball career in the New York Mets organization from 2022-2024, where he reached Double-A. Lancellotti, who will work with La Salle's pitchres, signed with the Mets after a decorated four-year career at the University of North Carolina, where he pitched to a 3.14 ERA in 63 appearances split as the team's closer and eventual Friday night starter. He notably led the Tar Heels to a pair of NCAA tournaments as a closer, appearing in two College World Series games in 2018. An initial New York Yankees draft pick in 2019, Lancellotti returned to North Carolina as a junior and senior as the team's Friday night starter, also becoming a two-way player on the backend of his collegiate career. A Bensalem native, Lancellotti stared at Penn Charter in high school, where he was named 2017 Pennsylvania Player of the Year (Prep Baseball Report, Perfect Game) while playing under current La Salle head coach Dave Miller.

La Salle has been practicing since the beginning of the fall semester within the NCAA-alotted fall practice guidelines and will open the regular season in February.
