Charlotte, NC – The La Salle women's triathlon team placed in seventh in the Division I category at the East Regional Championship race Saturday in Charlotte, as each of the Explorers' six entrants finished the race and now await the results of Sunday's West Regional to determine advancement.
Graduate student Fiona Davoudi finished in 30
th place out of a field of 132 total athletes across 20 competing schools. Davoudi's finish time (1:06:41) was within four minutes of the first-place mark.
Senior 
Sophie Brandwene posted a 1:13:34 to finish 63
rd and second-best for La Salle. Classmate 
Gabriela Herbreder was not far behind, finishing with a 1:18:35 for third-fastest among Explorers.
Freshman 
Sofia Nordbeck, just two weeks to the day removed from 
finishing in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, raced on Saturday and finished with a time of 1:21:35.  
Freshmen 
Beth Eldredge and 
Luciana Ruiz rounded out the finishes for La Salle, which now shifts its focus to the National Championship race in Arizona on November 8. The Explorers should know by early in the week whether all six competitors from Saturday will qualify, which they are anticipating.
