Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle field hockey team fell 6–0 to city rival Drexel on Friday afternoon at the Vidas Athletic Complex.
The Dragons came out fast, netting three goals in the opening quarter and building a 5–0 lead by halftime. Florienne Bosdijk opened the scoring less than a minute in before Sadie Schultz and Anna Castaldo quickly followed to put the Dragons in control. Castaldo finished with two goals and an assist, while Fleur Hamers, Natali Foster, and Schultz also found the back of the cage.
The Explorers battled throughout, with goalkeeper junior Abby Boggs recording 10 saves against a Drexel attack that generated 21 shots and eight penalty corners. The Explorers' best look came late in the third quarter, when junior Matilda Diedrichsen fired the team's lone shot on goal off a penalty corner, but Drexel keeper Halle Geiger turned it aside.
The Explorers return to action on Sunday looking to bounce back against Rider at home.
